Hi Briggsy, you won't remember me but I found the MorningTide channel several years ago and was 'hooked' - pun intended. Since then, I've had a spine/cord injury with 6 failed surgeries and haven't found much interest/ability in watching UA-cam. Then I was watching another channel and it showed fishing in Australia and, well, you can see where it brought me! It's great to see you and Cavy are still going on adventures together. I'll be heading to his channel soon after this to check out his videos. You two have always been so fun to watch. What a treat to pull up your channel. I'm glad I subscribed all those years ago. This was a great video to watch and I can honestly say I see myself binging on your videos. It was nice to see you with your kiddos. Last I saw your son was in diapers and your daughter was just a wee little thing. You keep feeding your kids, they keep growing! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. Got myself a cheap combo from Big W 30 years ago and it’s still working. These new reels only last a few years then your better off buying a new one as the repairs cost way too much.

Pre servicing those beautiful reels so important Briggsy. Correct amount of grease and sealing around the bearings and body back seal is must to prevent salt water getting in

From my understanding c sized reels is equiped with 1 model lower reel body. exp 4k sized reels with c means 4k spool and 3k reel body

Personal opinion, obviously: Pros: Low weights, gear ratio, design and color way. Cons: Mag seal and (apparently) carbon drag. I don't know quite what this is, it seems neither here, nor there. A mid-range finesse line, but not really (mag seal, carbon drag washers) . It's not expensive, but not cheap either. 10kg drag force on a 2500 reel... Yeah, maybe once. Anyway, why? Those reels don't need more than 2-3kg. Why on Earth would you have a reel rated for 6-8lbs line with a 10kg drag!? 😂

Amazing unboxing by the new Daiwa TD. I have one question that is happening to me every time since I am using your FG knot. I am using it in big game setup, medium setup and super light; all rods have SIC rings. Using your FG knot with (a fluorocarbon one and a half rods) according to the diameter of the braid, it turns around in the first ring starting from the tip of the rod, slowing down the cast and occasionally breaking the new line losing a lure. Do you not think that the fluorocarbon line could be long and trip over the rings turning around? I use Daiwa saltiga UVF Durasensor 8x PE4 braid with Varivas Ocean record Shock leader 90lb also medium setup Varivas premium quality Braid PE1.5 max 31LP with Fluorocarbon of 0.40-0.47mm. I think it is super compensate with the diameters. Let me know or guys what do you think? Thank you

The "C" stands for compact body, which means that the reel has one size down body with bigger spool, so 4000D-C has 3000 body with 4000 spool.

They probably dont do it but the shallow spool could contain larger diameter drag washers, worth a looksy mate!

Great video mate! I’d love to hear your thoughts on left vs right hand reel. I noticed your last vid was left handed. I grew up being told as a right hander you cast/ hold rod with your right and turn the handle with your left 🤷‍♂️

On Daiwa reels at least, the small round silver sticker on the reel foot indicates the size of the body, you will find some seemingly different size reels are actually the same size body.
